2006 Bantam AAA All-Star InformationBantam 2006 Assessments Set to Begin! Bantam AAA tryouts will be held at Layritz Park, Saturdays and Sundays starting October 1-2, and then on October 8-9 and October 15-16.
Players will be expected to attend one or two of the first weekend sessions (Saturday or Sunday, October 1, 2 ) and at least three sessions total. A parent or guardian will need to attend to sign the registration form and a $20 tryout fee will be collected at that time. The Bears and Vipers are competitive teams selected from the most highly skilled players in the Greater Victoria area. Players selected for these teams will begin weekly, two hour indoor practices Sunday afternoons early in January and move outside in March. Each team will have a schedule of approximately 60 games (possibly a bit fewer for the Bears). The cost to participation on these teams is approximately $1800-$2200 (including uniform, equipment, travel, etc.) before fundraising. Season The Vipers (born in 1991) will play in the full Bantam AAA interlock schedule (April through July) with Upper Island, Lower Mainland and Interior teams. In early August 2005, the Vipers will compete in “Tier 1” of the Bantam AAA Provincials (leading to the National Championships). The Bears will be a team of highly skilled, competitive and committed players from across greater Victoria. They will be all first year Bantam players --- born in 1992. The Bears will play in Greater Victoria's Bantam AA Spring League for the months of April, May and June. As well as having additional practices, the Bears will also supplement their schedule with extra exhibition games and tournament play through the spring and the month of July. The Bears will compete in Tier 2 of the Bantam AAA Provincials in early August with a berth in the Western Canadian Championships up for grabs. The commitment with respect to cost for the Bears players & parents will be less than for the Vipers as the Bears will not be playing in the Bantam AAA spring interlock schedule, that requires full travel. The 2006 season for Bantam AAA baseball will start soon:
