Mosquito
Allenby Shockwave Go 5-0 and Defeat Peninsula Twins to Take 2007 MosquitoTitle
After a 5 day rain delay (well partially interrupted by the July 1 long weekend), the Allenby Shockwave Stars and Peninsula Twins resumed their rain delayed game on Tuesday July 3 at jam-packed Allenby park, and the young Allenby guns continued their stellar playoff performance, rolling to a 12-5 victory over the Twins from Sidney. The boys of summer were down 3-0 after the top half of the 1st inning, but as usual were unfazed. They came back and scored three of their own to tie the game, and would have likely scored 4 had there not been an error in playing numbers in the batting line up. The S’Wave scored 5 more runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings respectively to take a commanding 8-3 lead. The defence held the Twins to no runs in the top of 4, while the Wave rolled on to score 4 more to go up 12-3. The Twins notched a pair of runs in the bottom of the 5th to mount a late game rally, but the Wave soon put on the brakes, holding the Twins scoreless for the rest of the game. Leading the Allenby offence was Craig Charlton with a double and single, Bryce Fenton with a double and 2 singles, Mitch Bryan with 3 singles, Andrew Belleville with a triple, Hunter Watson with a single, Fraser Rinald with a single, Jordan Parmar with a beautiful bunt off Twin closer Andrew Funk, and Ben Thomson with 3 walks. Aces on the mound tonight were Hunter Watson, Bryce Fenton, Fraser Rinald and Mitch Bryan. Craig Charlton also showed his gold glove at SS, making some great pick ups and outs on good throws to first.

Pee Wee
Carnarvon Riverdawgs Capture 2007 Pee Wee Championship
The Carnarvon Riverdawgs overcame a 2-1 deficit with 5 runs in the 5th inning and then hung on to escape with a 6-4 win over Gordon Head Vantreights in the Pee Wee championship game played at Gordon Head. The 'Dawgs were baffled over the first 4 innings by the solid pitching of Vantreight's Brendan Miller, who during that stretch scattered just three hits, allowing just a single run. In the 5th, Carnarvon's Cole Burns led off with an infield single that started the 5 run rally that saw six consecutive Carnarvon batters reach base before the first out was made. That brought in Vantreight reliever Kurtis Horne, who shut things down but not before the 'Dawgs pushed their 5th run across the plate. Vantreights was in solid position to mount a big rally in the sixth when Nick Woodcock led off with a bunt single and Drew Davidoff walked to start the inning, however Carnarvon middle reliever Matt Bryan settled down, only allowing a 2 RBI single to Miller before retiring the side. Carnarvon closer Josh Renaud sealed the deal from there in the 7th giving the Riverdawgs the win. Riverdawg pitchers Ryan Kennedy (3 IP, 0 earned runs, 0 hits, 4 K, 3 BB), Bryan (3 IP, 2 earned runs, 2 hits, 5K, 3 BB) and Renaud (1 IP, 0 runs, 0 hits, 2 K, 1 BB) limited Vantreight's to only 2 hits for the game, surrendering 2 of their 4 runs on errors and the other 2 on the hit by Miller. For Vantreights, Miller (5 IP, 5 earned runs, 5 hits, 5 K, 3 BB) and Horne (3 IP, 0 runs, 2 hits, 4 K, 2 W) were solid on the mound. Miller also led the offence going 1 for 2 with 2 RBI's and scoring a run. Nick Woodcock had the other Vantreight hit and scored a run. Davidoff and Eric Cochrane scored the other runs for Vantreights. For the Riverdawgs, the offence was spread throughout the order as seven different players had hits (Renaud, Kennedy, Bryan, Burns, Torin McLean, Jason Johnson and Scott Johnston). Johnston also had a pair of RBIs and McLean scored twice.

Bantam AA
Lambrick Park Shuts Down Carnarvon to Take 2007 Bantam AA Crown
Underdog Lambrick Park, who finished second in the playoff round robin and who were walloped 19 - 3 by undefeated first place Carnarvon in their previous meeting, travelled back to Carnarvon Park for the Bantam AA championship game and came up with their finest effort to beat the home squad by a score of 6 - 2. The game started as a pitchers' duel between Andrew Guy for Lambrick and Jacob Livant for Carnarvon, with the score knotted at 1 - 1 after four innings. The only runs to that point had been scored by Guy for Lambrick, who singled in the second inning, stole second base and then scored on a two out seeing-eye single by Sam Rice, and by Nick Gavas for Carnarvon, who walked, advanced to second on a single by Nick Kearley and then scored on a ground out by Stefan DeMontmorency. Guy helped his own cause again in the fifth, with a triple to right center that scored Garrett Holt to break the tie. Guy then scored again on a single by Chad Roorda to give Lambrick a two run lead that they never relinquished. In the sixth inning, Rice started another rally for Lambrick with a double to the left field wall. After advancing to third on a single by Dominic Colantonio, Rice scored on a sacrifice fly by Jamesy Chana. Colantonio was then driven in by a single by Holt, extending Lambrick's lead to 5 - 1. Ben Shong helped to close the gap in the bottom of the sixth with a single to drive in Kearley, who had reached first on Lambrick's only error of the game but that was as close as Carnarvon would get. Lambrick scored its final run on a double by Colantonio (Lambrick's ninth hit in total) that drove in Wes Myron who had walked and stolen second. Andrew Guy was strong on the hill in going the distance for Lambrick, surrendering just two hits and two walks, while striking out four. He was supported with stellar defensive work, with a total of 13 ground ball outs (several of them of the non-routine variety) and four fly ball outs recorded. It was a very well played game by both teams and a fitting end to the season overall. Lambrick simply played in inspired fashion, raising its performance level at the right time to come out on top and celebrate with the trophy.
