A number of GVMBA ball players were selected as call-ups
for various National and Western Canadian Championship tournaments and
have returned home with colorful hardware rewarding their success.
Victoria Mariners Premier players, Duncan Blades and Sam Waldie
were selected for the U17 BC Selects team and won Gold at the Canada Cup
tournament. Victoria Mariners Midget AAA players Craig Rubis and Ryan Stickel
were selected for the Midget AAA BC All
Star
team and returned home with a Bronze Medal from the Midget Nationals.
Victoria Vipers Bantam AAA player Jeremy Campbell was picked up by
the North Delta Astros and did a great job for the team, helping them
bring home a Gold Medal. Pee
Wee AAA players Jesse
Hodges, Ryan Rufh and Jesse Long (pictured above) were selected to
play on Team BC, and helped their team win Bronze at the Pee Wee AAA
Nationals. Finally, Pee Wee AAA players Matt Bryan and Ryan
Kennedy were selected by Host Team Ladner to play in the Pee Wee AAA

Midget AA Wolves Sweep Provincial Championship!
Riding the hot bat of tournament MVP Josh Curran and the
strong pitching of Aaron Koop in the final, the Victoria Wolves defeated
Ladner 6-2 to claim the 2007 Midget AA Provincial Championship. The Wolves
went undefeated in the tournament with round robin wins over Tri-City
(10-0), Mission (10-5), Tsawassen (12-0) and Ridge Meadows (9-2) in
round-robin play and a thrilling 2-1 victory over Vancouver in the semis,
where they were trailing 1-0 going into the bottom of the 7th.
Pee Wee A Tigers Defeat Fellow Cougars in Thriller
to Win Provincial Gold!
The Pee Wee A Tigers found some extra inning magic to
defeat their fellow Pee Wee A Victoria Cougars 7-5 in 10 innings in what
was a dramatic Pee Wee A Provincial Championship game in Mission. Sparked
by tournament MVP Mitch Seivewright, the Tiger bats came through when
needed, scoring 2 runs in the top of the 10th and then shutting the
Cougars out in the bottom of the inning. This followed a tense bottom of
the 9th that saw a Cougar runner thrown out at home plate on a great throw
from Tiger centre fielder Bryce Schwarz to keep the game going. Both
the Tigers and Cougars finished first in their round robin pools. The
Tigers then advanced to the final after a 3-0 win over Mission in the
semi-final. The Cougars defeated Burnaby 3-1 in the semis to advance.
