Midget Teams Falter at Provincials

The Midget AA Wolves and Midget AAA Selects came away disappointed from their recent BC Minor Provincial tournaments, both suffering agonizing one-run losses in their round robin play that kept them from moving on to the semi-finals.The Wolves, who played in Prince George over the July 26th weekend, began with a heartbreaking loss 2-1 loss to Ridge Meadows and then a 14-9 loss to Cloverdale, before regrouping to stun eventual champion Prince George 9-5 and then defeat Vancouver 5-3.  The two losses Saturday however were enough to keep the Wolves out of the playoffs, ending their season. For the Selects, the 2012 Midget AAA League Champions, things started out great in their Provincials over the August long weekend as they thumped Chilliwack 6-0.  Following that however, the timely hits and offence disappeared and the Selects lost two one-run heartbreakers, 2-1 to Cloverdale and 4-3 to Richmond to keep them out of the semi-finals.
