After a heart breaking opening loss to Coquitlam-Moody in the bottom of the 6th inning, the Victoria Eagles Mosquito AAA squad rebounded with three straight wins to win the gold medal at the Jack Short Memorial Tournament July 19-21 in Ridge Meadows. The final against host team Ridge Meadows was a convincing 6-1 victory. Coban Scott started the final with two scoreless innings recording all 6 outs as strike outs. Jayden Cull and Jordan Bond kept them guessing over the next two innings, only surrendering one run until Ardan Berg came in to close the game for the final two innings. Ardan Berg was the final game MVP. The Black Eagles will compete next at the 2014 Mosquito AAA BC Provincials on August 1-4 in Cloverdale.
