The Victoria Eagles Mosquito AAA Tier I team travelled to Richmond for the Provincials this last weekend. Action began on Friday afternoon with a lopsided loss to rivals Abbotsford. This put the Eagles in a position of having to win their last three games in the round robin to make it to the playoffs. On Friday evening the Eagles played Rutland and won 9-8 with a walk-off double in the bottom of the 6th. On Saturday morning, the Eagles played host Richmond and prevailed 9-5. This set up a game against Ridge Meadows–the winner would go on to the semi-finals against Chilliwack. In a hard fought game on Saturday afternoon, featuring some great pitching, the Eagles won 8-5. On Sunday morning, the Eagles lost to Chilliwack, the eventual champions, thereby claiming a share of the bronze medal with Cloverdale who lost in the other semi-final.
