PLAY BASEBALL

GVBA Program Information

Our programs consist of community youth and adult baseball and high performance provincial youth baseball:

  • Youth Spring Community (March to June) – running since 2001, for competitive house ball at A and AA levels for all ages. We have over 1400 girls and boys playing on 120 teams at 20 ball diamonds from Sooke to Sidney at all age divisions and levels. We also run a Challenger program for young adults.
  • Adult Spring and Summer Community (April to July) – our South Island Baseball League, running since 2007, for adults. W have 6-8 teams with 100-125 players.
  • Youth Full Season Premier Baseball League Provincial High Performance (October to August) – running since 2010, for Midget high performance players in the PBL. We field 32 players on junior and senior teams.
  • Youth Full Season BC Minor Provincial High Performance (October to August) – for Bantam and Midget high performance players in BCMBA. Running since 2001, we field 46 players on two bantam and one midget team.
  • Youth Summer BC Minor Provincial All-Star (May to August) – for All-Star at all levels A, AA and AAA in BCMBA. Running since 2001we typically place about 150-175 players aged 8 to 17 on 11-13 summer All-Star teams in 4 age divisions Mosquito to Midget.
  • Youth Fall Community (September and October) –running since 2007, for single level, recreational house ball for 11 to 17 year olds. We typically have 15 teams playing in 4 age divisions, Mosquito to Midget.

The baseball coordination and planning as well as conditioning programs continue through the non-playing months of October to March.

Where to Play in the GVBA

  • 4 to 12 year old players – Gordon Head, Carnarvon Ball Club, Peninsula, Lions and Triangle Westshore
  • 13 and 14 year olds – Peninsula, Carnarvon Ball Club, Lambrick Park, Triangle West Shore and Layritz
  • 15 to 17 years Midget AA – Peninsula, Carnarvon Ball Club, Lambrick Park, Triangle West Shore and Layritz
  • 15 to 17 years Midget AAA, Jr. Premier and Premier – GVBA Eagles and LVI Mariners
  • 18+ South Island Baseball League – Lambrick, Layritz, Carnarvon Ball Club, Peninsula and Triangle West Shore

Note: ages as of December 31 of the year prior to the playing season.
